Utility bikes of tokyo

Practical and bulletproof these oldfashioned bikes are performing important function in hip and high-tech tokyo.

The orange one belongs to the postal service. The other is one of legions at the Tsukiji, the world's largest fish market which is for now in the middle of Tokyo.

Both have rod brakes. The Tsukiji bikes are often as shown here with leather saddles and wooden crates attached to the rear with used inner tubes.
