DOSA AND THE EDIBLE SCHOOLYARD

Yet another wonderful event at Dosa to benefit the Chez Panisse Foundaition's "Edible Schoolyard" project.

Christina Kim and Alice Waters (shown here with design guru Lorraine Wild)hosted this fundraiser over the weekend. Dosa presented their current "Traveler" collection with proceeds from sales going to fund Alice's laudable project that gets edible gardens to schools in underprivileged areas in order to both provide better nutrition and make clear that food comes from the ground, not from the supermarket.

Nelson, the art director from Bloom Magazine set up the show along the lines of Christina's recent show in Bologna. Showcased was Christina's interest in taking her commitment to recycling even further by making sure that not even the smallest scraps of fabric go unused. Small pieces that are not used for clothing are stitched into drapery or screens, and even tiny pieces are bound into amulets and made into jewelry.

Another part of the benefit were artwork from Bruce Nauman, Kiki Smith and others.

Food, of course, by Alice Waters.
